Because it’s illegal, duh. Once you enshrine your prejudices in law, they’re no longer racism, they’re just moral purity.

I’m pretty sure computers do a better job of managing the clutch and the regenerative brakes and stuff, but we need to give more things to drivers to do to help keep them focused and engaged if we’re going to continue to allow them to operate automobiles.

Maybe eliminating cars would prevent cops from being able to fabricate traffic incidents to make ticket and arrest quotas?

Cool, man. Fuck cars.

I’ve been hit by a lot more cars than I’ve been stabbed by methheads so I take the bus instead. You might want to look at some actual statistics about the number of people who die from stabbing vs cars before making your decision.

I don’t feel there are too many games, because I can simply buy fewer games, but I do miss the feeling that there are games that everyone is buying and we’re all playing at the same time. I felt like everyone I knew was playing BG3 and we were all talking about it all the time. I don’t want to only play those kinds of big, blockbuster games, but I do want a few of them per year.

I think you might be surprised by how many drivers could reduce their average speed by 20 mph without running afoul of minimum speed limits.

I might also suggest that each person’s responsibility is to watch the road and not kill pedestrians like the graphic says, but I guess whatever helps you sleep at night.

Idk man the community is called “fuck cars,” not “transitioning from a car-based culture to a transit-oriented culture is difficult for which I bear no personal responsibility” so it may just be the case that this isn’t the forum for you 🤷♂️

Best comment in the thread. I saw it on Bluesky and didn’t know I could give credit within fedi. Thanks for linking!

I really don’t, honestly. I’ve actually never operated a motor vehicle, or even been in a car while someone else was driving. Honestly, the ability to choose the robust public transit option available in the United States has really made me completely oblivious to how driving works at all in the real world. I’m so lucky to have you here to so calmly and rationally explain it to me.

I’m sorry but blinking is for public transit users only.

I mean, I’m sure you can name a half dozen or so people from the 1400s. I highly doubt anyone will remember me personally as one of those half dozen people, but I’m fairly certain that with the advances in technology the average people of the year 2625 will be dimly aware of closer to a dozen people alive today.
They always have good points because I am a smart person and those voices are my voices?

I feel pretty confident that in his last moments, he was glad to have died a necessary but unfortunate death, and to have had the opportunity to water the tree of liberty with his blood. May we all have deaths so perfectly aligned with our values in life.
Sarcsam aside, personally, I think the fact that our law reflects our prejudices is more racist than the actual means that we use to enforce them, which is a pretty high bar to clear.
