i maintain that basic bikes should be literally free, like bikeshare systems except you just place bikes all over the place and people just grab the closest one when needed.

the japanese model of requiring a proof of off-street parking to own a car, and ideally you should need to justify ownership of anything that can go faster than 45 km/h and weighs more than a ton.

i’m currently living on sweden’s basic “i literally have no other option” welfare which is ~$450 per month, and through the arcane magic of NOT FUCKING SPENDING MY MONEY ON USELESS SHIT i’m able to quite easily have 50€ to spare at the end of the month while living comfortably.

just recently there was a guy here in sweden who was fucking pronounced dead for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and courts ruled that it was an honest mistake??? like what the fuck, why are random admin workers seemingly a separate untouchable ruling class?? We’re not even talking about rich people, it’s just Mary in accounting who is arbitrarily allowed to redirect your wage to her bank account and go unpunished.

fwiw i find the saying “there is no bad weather, only bad clothing” (it rhymes in swedish) much better than “you aren’t made of sugar”. It’s less demeaning and actually tells you how to make weather bearable.

i mean you can just wipe yourself down with a wet towel or some wet wipes, yeah it’s not supremely convenient but it really shouldn’t be any sort of a dealbreaker.
