  • I think it’s less of a clean split than you’re making it. The statements I listed show both. Sometimes leaders stress, “he was one of our own,” sometimes they stress how “this is not who we are.” Neither is pure ownership nor pure cowardice; they’re rhetorical tools for different purposes: unity, deflection, grieving, or political cover.

If anything, the very fact that they have to insist “this isn’t us” suggests they’re already grappling with the same discomfort you’re pointing out. It’s just a more polite way of saying “we wish it had been someone else’s problem.”

Either way, it’s not coded anti-immigrant language.

  • Uvalde, Texas - 2022 Robb Elementary School Shooting

“This was a young man that was from Uvalde. He was raised in Uvalde. This is not something that is—we’re not a big city. This is a city of 16,000 people. Most of the law enforcement, most of the people knew him… We’re a town that prays together, we’re a town that works together, and we’re a town that grieves together… It’s just hard to believe that somebody from our community would do this to our community.”

El Paso, Texas - 2019 Walmart Shooting

“We are Texans, and we will not be defined by this evil. We are defined by our love… This is not who we are. This is not Texas… We must unite against this evil. And we must remember that it is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to overcome our differences that divides us.”

Highland Park, Illinois - 2022 Parade Shooting

“I also want to add that we as a community, and I as a mayor, are reeling from the loss that we experienced yesterday. It’s a profound sense of grief. The shooter was from our community. He was a resident of our community. So we are all, as a community, grappling with the fact that this was one of our own.”

Dayton, Ohio - 2019 Oregon District Shooting

“The shooter was from Bellbrook. A graduate of Bellbrook High School. It is a very small community, very close to our community… It’s just so sad. The motivation is so confusing. And to have that kind of hatred in your heart, and to do that kind of violence in our community, is just a tragedy.”

Virginia Beach, Virginia - 2019 Municipal Center Shooting

“He was one of our own. And he turned on his own.”

Santa Fe, Texas - 2018 Santa Fe High School Shooting

“This is a local kid. He’s from our community… It’s just very difficult. We’re all feeling this. You know, these are our children. These are our friends’ children. These are our neighbors’ children, and it’s just a terrible day.”

San Bernardino, California - 2015 Terrorist Attack

“I think that after this, we have to look at the fact that, you know, this is a global issue. But it happened in our city. It was committed by people that lived in our city and in our region.”

    Norway, 2011 attacks

“He grew up in our neighborhood, believed in the same God, and had the same skin color as the majority in this country. He was one of us.”

  • Here are some of the comment’s below Asmongold’s video where he says 90% of all of the violence is from the left, who continue to terrorize people daily, and that until violence happens to them, it isn’t going to stop.

    - They tried to kill Free Speech today. But all they did was martyr him. And they aren’t going to want to deal with the ramifications of it. (+7.4k)

    - They killed the “lets talk it out guy”. They have no idea what theyve done (+589)

    - They could not win the debate, so they removed the debator. When the option to resolve differences through speech is removed, the only thing left is war. That is where we are currently at, and people feel it. (+361)

    - Democrats havnt been this pissed since Lincoln took away their slaves. 😢RIP young man (+316)

    - Ironically, this is going to be a turning point. In trying to silence him, they have made them a martyr. I’ve been saying this for years, it’s time to stop taking the high road with these lunatics. (+195)

    - Being from the UK my government calls me far right, applies the law unequallly and persecutes the native population. Dont let it get this bad America. RIP Charlie. (+183)

    - There’s tweets, reddit comments, and bluesky comments already advocating for more violence against conservatives, and upvoted hundreds of thousands of times. They by their own words, are “just getting started”. Keep your head on a swivel. (+175)

    - Conservatives should no longer tolerate the intolerable. (+155)

    - In the past two years there have been three high profile assassination attempts on Conservative politicians. Two on Trump, one which nearly killed him, and now another, unfortunately successful, on Kirk. All by leftists. In that same time, not one high-profile attempt has been made on a Democrat politician. (+140)

    - MAGA won’t be silenced. The left has been demonizing the right for years as being the violent ones. After today, they might just get their wish. (+129)

    - I listen to both sides of politics . When one side keeps continuing to passionately assassinate the other side to silence them; I then lean more side that being silenced. (+108)

    - You can only push people so far before they say “enough”. Enough of the riots, enough of the protests, enough of the doxing, enough of the rhetoric, and enough of the violence. To a certain point trying to take the high road has enabled these people to feel like they can get away with doing these things. So the only way to solve that is to start standing up and letting them know that they can’t. Time to rise up. (+82)

    - I remember months ago when Asmon called it where something big was gonna happen due to the rhetoric like HAMAS DIDDY PIKER kept spewing would bring. Also not just Hasan but others in his orbit and community keep advocating for this type of violence and yet TWITCH does nothing and its such a shame. (+81)

  • There are so many cameras everywhere, especially on a college campus. I assume they were able to track all of his movements.

Unless you’re suggesting this is a conspiracy from the FBI, but I dunno I think Kirk was a valuable long term asset for them I don’t think they’d kill him on purpose. Plus why would everything yesterday be so sloppy? Wouldn’t they just Epstein kill whoever they had in custody yesterday? Or fake that they caught somebody?
