Many if not most Israeli Jews are Ashkenazi, particularly Eastern Europe. The original Zionists and settler colonists were almost exclusively from Europe.

Israelis are largely from Europe and the US and many have dual nationalities. A French citizen can also be an Israeli and even if thats not the case here, Israel has generous citizenship laws for Jews so it’s trivial for them to make Aliyah and obtain an Israeli passport.
