Remember, this is a policy at all levels. The governments love big car exports because it’s a lot of money, but the auto worker unions also love this.
It’s a similar dynamic to housing like flats/apartments all being oriented towards luxury standards that are unaffordable and drive up the prices. Society is allowing these corporations to try to get the maximum profits at the cost of society and the environment.
This can be easily reversed by taxing them heavily. Make them unprofitable.
edit: I disagree with the video’s implications that everyone should own a car. Fuck cars. If they become a (obvious) luxury, they should definitely be removed from urban areas and not be subsidized in any way. Let them play with their luxury cars on private race tracks.
