Just to be clear, cops show up. One guy is alive, and the other is dead. The alive guy claims they were arguing over parking, and the dead guy is dead because he’s been riddled with bullets from a gun that the alive guy is holding. The dead guy is unarmed.
They don’t even arrest Bougere. They only confiscate the murder weapon. It’s beyond bizarre. You’d at least expect them to arrest him on suspicion of something.
I guess the joke is that he won’t get lost because he has a map. And then stop thinking because that’s the entire joke.
Trump specifically appointed him because he’s a doctor who doesn’t believe in medical science. Now, they’ve gotten rid of him because he doesn’t believe in medical science.
This seems to be the difference between incompetence and corruption. He wants to deny new medicines and reduce the use of vaccines because he’s incompetent.
They want him to reduce the use of vaccines because it’s politically expedient, and to approve new drugs likely because that is also politically expedient. So, they’re simply corrupt. I think if we look, we’ll see a clear money trail.

I was watching How It’s Made recently, and they did asphalt. The components were crushed granite in three different sizes, sand, and some “cement” that is a byproduct of oil refining. And I’m sitting there watching it thinking, “Wow. We’re doing this on purpose.”
This reminds me of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. They have a disturbing talking animal that is genetically programmed to want to be eaten, and it comes to your table in the restaurant and tries to convince you to eat it.

Conservatives use the word “urban” as a dog whistle for “minorities,” probably most often black people.
But anyways, as to your point, even if an urban area has a higher crime rate, it’s inevitable because of the density. If you take the same number of people and cram them more closely together, there will always be more crime because the people interact with each other more often. More chances for crime usually results in more crime.
But the conservative mindset is also completely wrong about what to do about it. People usually commit crimes for a reason. Like you steal something because you cannot afford to buy it. Conservatives want to stop crime not by looking at the reasons people commit crimes and looking for ways to solve those issues, but by trying to scare people into not committing crimes. But that doesn’t work.
I think the important thing to understand the meaning isn’t the “weak” as much as the “doesn’t make you”. Like they could have achieved the same meaning by saying, “You are not defined by the emotions you feel in times of trouble.”
I see the word “weak” as an emotional appeal rather than an actual important part of the meaning.
Is pacifism ever about practicality, though? The issues you describe sound like the normal issues that always accompany pacifism.

I added emphasis to show how Scott even managed to rebut his own argument with a single word. He’s admitting he’s supposed to be “serving”. That’s because he’s supposed to be a servant. He’s supposed to be a public servant. Even if it’s possible to get rich, obviously, a public servant’s first priority is to the public, right?
He’s like a fucking butler trying to defend why it’s okay that he took the silver serving trays.
Either you’re “serving” or you’re not. Rick Scott is obviously not serving. He’s eating from the buffet while everybody else is starving.
