Sometimes I get a nice but small euphoric high whenever I comment something or whatever is addressed or liked by some channel I’m subscribed to.

On a more IRL-like experience. I was at a tech conference was and there was a booth hosted by VPR which was Vermont Public Radio and I really liked listening to them at the time. They had a contest, a free one-entry raffle to win some cool gear. And my history with entering raffles was always on the losing end of the thing, whatever. I just filled out my name, address and put it down in the bowl.

Didn’t think anything of it and went back home when the conference was over. Some 2 or 3 weeks later, I get a package in the mail and turns out I actually won the draw. I got a nice canteen, a keyring clipper, some stickers, some decals, a nice keyring and I think a hat too. It was a nice feel-good moment.

Fuck, every night I come into work, there’s always handfuls of people that has everything on loudspeaker.

I don’t even use loudspeaker because everytime I use it, people claim they have a hard time hearing me and there’s so much interference.

It isn’t a matter of what I’d like to see on Lemmy, it is more like, I want to see more activity in already dead and mostly abandoned instances on Lemmy and the fediverse.

I believe there is some huge level of insecurity among people that make them act that way. It has to be. It’s their poor way of coping in a world they probably didn’t have any plans in how to navigate in, so why not just be a bastard online? It gives them a sense of superiority and power I guess, as false as it is.

The Fediverse should be learning as to what not to be. This kind of behavior was very frequent on Reddit and still continues today. There should be an end to that kind of thing.

People just want a browser that is privacy-focused, ad-blocking by nature and doesn’t break anything that people try to use like services to pay bills through and even trying to view important stuff like through a health portal.

But people in Mozilla, Microsoft and Google have different ideas and ambitions that work against that. Whether it is AI-driven, catering to advertisers, breaking things when they decide to change something that nobody asked them to change and whatnot. That’s why everyone is constantly looking for alternatives. They just want out of the bullshit.

Any and all time I hear of this ‘game’, I can’t help but think that it is a scam. It is perhaps the most decorated and sugar-coated of scams to ever exist. Simply because they’re saying ‘yeah you can kindof play it’ and that alone, is their cover-all excuse. It wasn’t too long ago that they invested in some very expensive office and they proclaimed that they needed it to help further development or whatever bullshit reason they stated it was for.

But yeah they can just do whatever they want and fools will still throw down their money, even though they probably will almost never know where all of it will go to. I won’t be surprised if some of the money is making one guy rich. I wouldn’t be surprised if the money is used to funnel some political campaign. Something. We won’t ever know, but because this project is technically playable, they just throw up their arms being like “what? it’s still developing! we just need more time and money!”.

It is projects like Star Citizen, that has made me have an extremely soured perspective with early access projects. One other game that came to mind was 7 Days to Die, I remember getting that through Humble Monthly. At that time, the game was like 5 years in development and was still in the alpha stages.

It went through numerous changes, both unnecessary and unneeded while progressing. But the years kept piling up. I think it is now fully released but it still doesn’t look 100%. It just lacked what direction it really wanted to go and even then I thought that project was grifting people who bothered supporting it.

Not unless I want to pull another personal loan out and be paying that off for multiple years just to say I went to a place not home or not in my country.

Politicians do this all of the time. Say and do one thing as theater to the public, turn around and do and say different things out of the public eye we later find out about.

I do this fairly often too. Where I work, nobody doesn’t need to know of shit about my personal life, it is none of their business. There’s nobody I like enough there that warrants me gushing about myself. I have about maybe five key friends who all know in depth of me, but how I tell things slightly differs from another but they’re generally getting the same stories and experiences I talk about.
