You’re literally me. I love open source, decentralization and public knowledge so I totally love what you said.

Are the “completely legal avenues” better than that? In that case can you provide links in DM so I make sure to block these domains and to promptly inform the authorities? Thank you.
tired_n_bored@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•is there any legitimate use of blockchains?4·6 days agoThat’s true, but also the algorithm plays an important role. Do we really need ASIC farms in order to secure the network? Ideally, and how it was thought at the beginning, the individual nodes should also be responsible for its validation, using consumer grade hardware.
There are greener algorithms like the Monero’s. Also Nano uses something called “block lattice” in order to secure the network, with close to 0 required energy
tired_n_bored@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•is there any legitimate use of blockchains?111·6 days agoBeing on Lemmy, I like the idea of decentralized and permissionless stuff, including money. The problem I have with crypto is that they’re either clearly scams (Trumpcoin, Melaniacoin etc) or they were not intended as a scam but the market fails to fairly price them because they speculate (e.g. Bitcoin).
Also I don’t understand why people keep insisting in buying Bitcoin when the energy to “produce” it is enormous and is responsible for a lot of CO2 emissions when there are greener cryptocurrencies.

tired_n_bored@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Italy OKs $15.5 billion project to build world's longest suspension bridge from mainland to SicilyEnglish4·24 days agoI’m Italian.
The governments have been talking about it since the 90s. They OK’d 15 billions but will likely cost the double and much of it will be wasted in bureaucracy and corruption. Nonetheless this money will not be spent solely on the bridge, but also to enhance the entire Sicilian railway network.
Also Sicily has 5 millions of inhabitants, it’s a lot of people, served only by slow and downsized boats. It takes hours to go through the strait. Furthermore it’s great both for the people and for the goods to be able to reach Berlin from Palermo by train.
I don’t know whether this is the right choice and whether Italy has enough resources to accomplish that, but if it works out I think it’s a great opportunity.
I haven’t had a pay rise since 2020. Instead my employer forced us to sign a fake “part time contract” so he can pay us 50% legally and the other 50% illegally (cash) so he doesn’t pay taxes. I hate my job.
I was today years old when I found out the arr stack is called like that because it’s used to sail the high seas… Arr 🏴☠️🦜
