  • It depends on what we’re doing and where we’re going. If it’s something quick or I’m going to be busy while I’m there, then I’ll just take a pair of headphones and two of my android devices, one to listen to music on the way there and back, and another to play games while I’m there if I can. If we’re going to be gone for a while, I’ll take all of my android devices, my controller, a keyboard and mouse, my tablet stand, and some USB cables and adapters. I would take some other devices, but for right now, android devices are the only portable devices I have that I actively use.

  • Xiaolin Showdown wasn’t originally on Cartoon Network but it did appear there later on. Also, I know for sure it was on Cartoon Network’s website because it was alongside a bunch of other Cartoon Network games. In fact, after looking though flashpoint again, there are different Xiaolin Showdown games that specifically mention Cartoon Network as the creator.

  • Yes but it was obviously never enough to pay bills or purchase anything that was really expensive. I’ve been using these websites and apps that are referred to as “beer money sites/apps” on and off for over the past decade. I don’t know exactly how much I’ve made over the years but I do know it was definitely several hundreds of dollars. I used to use them to buy cheap games and older consoles from Amazon but my most recent purchase was a cheap laptop that I bought about a year ago.

They’re not great but they are currently the only way for me to buy stuff online.

  • I posted my comment on the original post with my other Lemmy account but I’m going to put it here too, just in case this post gets more traction.

There are a few things but I don’t think I can really talk about them here. So, I’ll just mention that there was this old browser game on Cartoon Network’s website that I remember playing when I was younger. It was based on Xiaolin Showdown and, while I don’t remember exactly what the gameplay was like, it was a fully 3D game and I think I remember it being a platformer. I have never been able to find this game or even any information about it existing, anywhere. I’ve even checked Bluemaxima’s Flashpoint and it’s not archived there either.

  • There used to be a website called “thesmartass(dot)info”. It had online emulators for old video game consoles as well as some flash games and a bunch of other stuff that I never used. The homepage also had a daily (or it might have been weekly, I’ve forgotten) artwork that was usually abstract but sometimes it got weird. Like, there is this one image that I sometimes think about, where it was a realistic looking image of a naked woman (or at least I think it was a woman) with a really long and flexible torso, and her torso is contorted so she fits inside a box.

I don’t know when it happened but it seems like the domain has been transferred over to someone else and it’s a completely different website now. Also, I did check the Wayback Machine and it is archived but it seems like it wasn’t archived properly as the website is almost completely broken.

  • Outside of emulators and other similar apps, there are some games that have decent mobile ports. Some of the good ones I know of are:

Lego Star wars: the Complete Saga, which as far as I can tell, seems mostly identical to at least most of the other versions but it lacks all of the co-op/multiplayer components. I did also see some minor graphical glitches but they didn’t effect gameplay.

The 3D remake of Final fantasy 3. It seems identical to the PSP version but it’s obviously running at a higher resolution and possibly a higher frame rate as well.

Bloons TD 5, other users have mentioned 6 but 5 is also good too.

HamSandwich, which is not available through the Google Play Store, so you may soon be stuck with the browser version when Google’s changes to side loading take effect. Also, I recommend using either a keyboard or a controller, as the touchscreen controls are not that good.

The Enchanted Cave 2, the first one is also pretty good too but 2 has a lot more content and is a much better game all around.

I know that a lot of people have issues with games that have MTX, but I will defend these games if they are actually good and I can play them without feeling like I’m being force to put money in. Here are some of the games I can remember:

Honkai Impact 3rd, I haven’t completed the story yet but I’ve played up to the end of chapter 28 of part 1 and I haven’t had to put a single cent into the game. My only issue with this game is that, while the game does have keyboard support and the keyboard controls are decent, it doesn’t have controller support for some reason.

Bloons Monkey City, this game is basically just Bloons TD 5 but with a city building mechanic and some online components.

The Walking Zombie 2: Shooter. This ones a bit weird but I’ve been playing this occasionally. It’s a pretty decent FPS that takes at least some inspiration from the Fallout games. It’s not a masterpiece by any means but it still seems worth mentioning. I just wish it had keyboard and mouse support.

  • I’d say probably about a 7. I’m good enough with technology to have been using Linux for the past few years without any major issue that wasn’t caused by the distro I was using. I still wouldn’t say that I’m great with it though, because there are still several things I don’t know how to do and there are probably also a bunch of things that would be useful for me to know but I just haven’t found them yet or even know that I need them in the first place.

  • A lot actually, I’m quite sensitive to emotional things. I’ve been playing Honkai Impact 3rd and it’s made me tear up multiple times. I don’t remember all of the games but some of the other games I remember are:

All of the Kingdom Hearts except “3D” and 3 because I haven’t played them yet.

Metal Gear solid 1, 2, 3 and Peace Walker

Some of the Final Fantasy games

    Castlevania Order of Ecclesia

  • I’m not sure what kind of games you are looking for but I’ve been playing Honkai Impact 3rd. The android version doesn’t have controller or mouse support but it has keyboard support and it’s fine. I think every action is mapped to the keyboard but the game doesn’t always tell you what everything is, the only one I’m not sure of is specifically the swiping QTE but QTEs are not used very often, so I never really had an issue with just using the touch screen for those. I would also imagine that Mihoyo’s other games are good too but I haven’t played them yet.

Another game I can suggest is Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, if you like that kind of game. As far as I can tell, it’s mostly identical to the PC version but with the one difference being that the multiplayer has been removed.
