Preach, brother. I don’t get the fetish with aiming for ‘natural’ dynamic range in a movie in the first place. I need these people to explain to me why reproducing the relative sound pressure of a fucking explosion relative to normal speaking volume is somehow desirable to me.

We’re talking about a car that can be stopped in its tracks by light snowfall or being left outside in mild rain. I’m no expert, but somehow I don’t think a quick burst of 30 mm PGU-14/B armor-piercing incendiary rounds or a Hellfire missile will experience any issues.

Please explain your reasoning in great detail and at length. Go on. We’ll wait.
Wow, framing the debate much?
This being the Internet - and great minds thinking alike - it was bound to happen sooner or later :)
“It’s called dynamic range, you philistines!” quoth the audio engineer who hasn’t consumed his own work on consumer-grade hardware since his early teens.
Though crowd. Should have gone for open mic-night at the local watering hole for coders.

Purely scientifically speaking you might well be able to subsist on SCoP, casein powder in water, a dry pack of chow mein noodles and a daily multi-vitamin pill and be perfectly fine. Hell, you can probably scientifically design some sort of nutritionally perfect human kibble that the peons can wash down with Real Water ™, but is that desirable?
Now if you will excuse me, I have a sourdough bread to shove in the oven.

If I insist on using the spelling ‘leburthy’, I don’t get to complain if somebody else makes me feel like an uneducated fool in short order.
Which - given that this is the Internet - will undoubtedly happen very swiftly indeed.

I’m not going to be counting on them to investigate, let alone prosecute the affairs of this Russian junkie-stooge either.
I know I’ve mentioned how I hate this timeline, but it bears repeating.
