    Stupid ass idea,

However, still terrified about that time I was driving at night, though a road in the country, no streetlights, and someone wearing nothing but black crossed the road, I only saw them when it was way too close to react, didn’t hit them. But please

Don’t cross like a fucking idiot with zero survival instincts.

Not sure if relevant, this post just reminded me of that

That website is propaganda group that both fuels and funds far-right movements. They are not journalists, but an influencing machine. The better subs have banned their links.

If you want to read about our asshat politician and this story in particular, it’s covered here: https://irishcycle.com/2025/07/05/td-asks-about-making-high-vis-compulsory-for-all-pedestrians-cyclists-and-users-of-school-transport/

That’s like saying bulletproof vests should be mandatory when you’re having a walk in the woods, because it would protect you in case a hunter shoots at you by mistake.
You’re the one driving the 2 tons of lethal steel, it’s on you to make sure you do so safely.

First ban large cars and pickup trucks, improve public transport, improve cycling paths and improve pedestrian infrastructure

This lacks context of people already doing this, there being no plans to enact legislation, and roads being particularly winding.

That doesn’t make it better, that means the roads are too fast for safety.
