Seems like every story I hear about the New Zealand Parliament involves the conservatives being able to just kick people out when they feel like it. Is that how they run democracy on that island? Cuz it seems like not democracy really…

“If we find six of 68 government MPs with a spine, we can stand on the right side of history,” said Swarbrick.

THATS what she got kicked out for? That is so tame i wouldnt have even taken note of it, if the article didnt mention it.

The current government hasn’t been normal by New Zealand standards. It’s risking being a one term government.

Normally the UK isn’t really an example to be followed, but knock-down-drag-out brawls are probably pretty healthy for society in general. Less decorum nonsense, more punching Nazis.

Your comment is very strange given that in just the last two weeks the UK has implemented some extremely authoritarian rights-stripping policies.

Yeah, that’s why i said the uk isn’t normally a role model. That’s literally the first thing i said, even.

But UK is NOT doing that. Which is why everyone is confused why you’d bring it up in a conversation about NZ.
