Yup just started seeding the 64-bit PC DVD .iso since I figured I’d need it sooner or later, the .torrent links are listed there in the Debian download page https://www.debian.org/distrib/
And of course plenty of other Linux distros have their own torrent links.
In the northeastern U.S. I’ve mostly learned to acknowledge them, don’t give anything, and move on with my life.
Not sure if it’s bad luck or what, but nearly every time I’ve tried to be nice and offer them something it always backfires. I’ll be passing by with some food and they’ll ask me for some, I give them some and then they tell me it wasn’t enough and to give them all the food I was carrying. Like WTF?
Another time I actually had some change on me so I gave him some and he said it wasn’t enough money and started following me, wanted me to go to an ATM so I can take out more money for him. I was forced to tell him to stop following me or I’d have to call the cops.
I have even more stories like that… going through those motions repeatedly it feels like the homeless have taught me not to give to the homeless. But hopefully your experiences have better outcomes.
Yikes, even without knowing for certain if someone was literally trying to kill me I’d still be avoiding their cooking after the first 1-2 near death experiences. After that I’d politely throw out anything edible coming from someone I’d suspect of being a terrible cook.
It’s hard to fathom how this guy ate tainted food from the same source four times, maybe he just really hates seeing food go to waste.
Right? I find it hard to believe the stripped down government (courtesy of DOGE) is going to spend much effort on mailing all those checks overseas, or doing international wire transfers, etc.
At the very least they’ll take their sweet time and it’ll be a few years after the trip that this “bond” money actually gets returned.
Yup, most times when a business gets set up for accepting credit card payments they need to set up a bank, merchant account, gateway, those things integrate with the CC companies. Often they aren’t even the same company so you’re kind of dealing with a bunch of different entities. I’m not sure if I missed any other middlemen.
The new thing is for the POS system / website / whatever to sell you the merchant account/gateway under their own systems so everything besides the bank and credit card companies are integrated through them (& they collect more money).
In my early 30’s still felt like I was in my late 20’s so never really gave it much thought. Maybe around 33-35 I actually started getting into a more 30’s mindset.
Anyway, don’t overthink it :)

I’ve been featured in one my coworker’s dreams apparently. Not in a weird way, she’s told me and the dream was very funny. More like an inside/office type joke that must have snuck into her dream state LOL.
