Granted, they were going to send in the goons no matter what. Don’t be surprised when ICE is called on to use that ridiculous budget for things like this.

Hold on let me look up what “brown shirts” were.

americas only option left now is riots. protests aren’t working, the elites don’t care unless their lives are threatened. it’s sad but true. this isn’t going to change or go away with hand holding. history has proven the only way to remove fascist regimes is violence. that’s the truth. fascist don’t care for your vote, they don’t care about you, they will and are taking all your rights and voices away to maintain power and control. this is 1000% happening in the US right now. right this second. this isn’t a warning of what could happen, it’s literally happening. and there’s only 1 way out now. and it’s not pretty.

Riots are loud and obvious. Direct action should also incorporate quiet subtle tactics, like sabotage.

Honestly, one of the most patriotic things someone could do right now would be to sign up for ICE and then deliberately be the most incompetent work-to-rule ICE agent they possibly can. Be a net negative to ICE’s operations.

Document everything. Keep the emails berating you for poor performance and print them out. Every memo. Every group chat is at best “bad taste” and have paper copies of everything

Not American so take this with a grain of salt: organised civil disobedience is always an option. They can’t force you to work and it hits them right in the wallet, which is all that matters for the ruling class.

Riots should be a very last resort (e.g if they instigate it)

we’ve protested in one location, but we haven’t protested in a bunch of locations at once at the same time. not one 10000 person protest, but 10 1000 person protests

I have slept maybe four hours this month so i’m explaining poorly, but the idea is less “let’s have five hundred protests across the united states” and more “let’s have five hundred protests across Chicago so it overwhelms the ability of emergency services to respond to the protests, and scale that up proportionally across the united states”. I have counted two protests in my county in the last eight months. It has more than ten municipalities.

Ah, now I get it! Very valid and useful idea. Perhaps holding up crosswalks throughout the city? Only takes 2 people to definitely slow traffic and cause a nuisance at each intersection. If this were replicated sporadically throughout the city all at the same time… I can see it.

As a former Austin resident (East Austin before moved out in 2023), I can tell you that this is nothing new. Democrat legislators have had to flee numerous times in order to try to slow down Texas’ slide into authoritarianism. Austin dems have been down in the trenches fighting this shit for years before Trump came along but nobody paid attention, much less helped.

Like climate change or a frog slowly being boiled by raising the water temperature one degree at a time, Republican authoritarianism has been slow moving train-wrecked that many of us have been screaming about for years and nobody paid much attention to. Texas consistent low voter turnout can attest to that. Indifference has fucked us all.

Wait until ICE has been fully converted to Brownshirts via extremest recruitment and equipped with their billions of dollars of military surplus gear. You’ll have legislators zip tied to chairs on the floor under armed guard to reach quorum.

I’m sure OP didn’t mean it but comparing anything happening with dem politicians to the underground railway amounts to denialism of white supremacy and the enslavement of African people.

African people were forcibly removed from their homes. Their descendants were owned from birth. Both were forced to perform labor of various sorts and lived cradle to grave without any semblance of legal rights at all. This was heritable, passing from mother and/or father to all children. It was not only illegal for a white person to assist them to exist the situation, it was legally required to prevent them from doing so. Which is to say nothing of the penalties on any Black person caught escaping or assisting an escape.

The underground railway was a system of attempting to assist a class of people to gain freedom in defiance of every law and social convention, one person at a time. It was an act of racial, class and national treachery far beyond anything I’ve ever heard any democrat even contemplate.

Therefore, comparing any contemporary situation serves only to diminish the gravity of the underground railway. Which was not just about going somewhere else for political reasons.

    Need a different analogy.

When the state orders illegal arrest warrants, what to do?

“Captain! CAPTAIN! They’re shooting at us!”

I know, easy enough to say, but we have to draw a fucking line in the sand and say, “My life is worth giving to fight fascism.” America is not some foreign land, the goals here are not nebulous political objectives. The enemy is at the gates.

Loads of “funny” posts around here about how no one wants to live this life any longer. Not so fucking funny when faced with death, actual black, endless nothing. Been there done that, never been so scared. But facing death a couple of times does give one perspective. In any case, I will not live in fascist America. I. Fucking. Refuse.

Also, I’m middle-aged, easier for me than a young man with a full life ahead. But for me, in my place, I am a fucking pit viper vs. these animals. Do not stir me. Yeah, I said it, these fascists are subhuman to my mind. I’m not waiting on excuses, I am actively looking for excuses.

Gave my MAGA neighbor the Nazi salute I give every single time I pass his house. LOL, got the cops called on me for calling him a fascist and his wife a fat-ass Nazi cunt. When he came stomping down here to kick me ass, he had no idea how close I came to ending his life on this street. Florida is “stand your ground”! Isn’t that what the conservatives wanted? My brown, legal, immigrant wife, “stop that”. I refuse. “No, this fucker needs to know that despite his friends and family and FaceBook echo chamber, some of us will fight him, he is my enemy.”
