He doesn’t know how to tell their children where she went.
[…] Adrian Clouatre said he is “not a very political person” but believes his wife deserved to live legally in the U.S.
“I’m all for ‘get the criminals out of the country,’ right?” he said. “But the people that are here working hard, especially the ones married to Americans — I mean, that’s always been a way to secure a green card.”
This guy 100% voted for Trump.
“One of the good ones” is what they always say when it affects them personally.
Just tell them the truth.
Children, I voted for your mother to be treated as a subhuman and we all got what I voted for. Don’t you dare throw me into an asylum!
And as an armed service member, I betrayed my oath to defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That’s why mommy is in a gulag.
Now stop crying. Who wants ice cream?
Stupid children clearly don’t understand that trump is more important than my family

It’s just a hell of a way to treat a veteran
I feel for the guy, I really do. But this military entitlement pisses me off. You don’t deserve better than others.
I frame it a different way: his party likes to idolize the military and say they will take care of their own, but then pull stunts like this. should be a wakeup call for some people.
I agree with you otherwise
He may not be entitled to better treatment than others, but his country just abducted his wife after he pledged his life for that country.
I volunteered to murder brown people in the name of oil lobbying. Thank me for my service
I didn’t have a choice, I was poor and the only way I could better my situation was blowing the limbs of a 9 year old Afghan boy.
Please have sympathy for me, im a vet.
I’ve got more respect for fentanyl dealers than I do vets.
Vets do important work and are valuable members of their communties, they can heal pets.
Veterans on the other hand…
but they need to preboard!
Those types of things are completely fine. They are functionally inconsequential but show acknowledgement of a decision to serve that most Americans do not make and many would actively try to avoid if called to serve.
Expecting preferential treatment by governmental agencies solely based on that is a totally different story.

Eh. You’ve agreed to kill people for money. I don’t see that as a virtue.
Not even your own money, you’re killing people for more money in the pockets of weapons dealers, oil barons, and the politicians they employ - I mean “lobby.”
You don’t deserve better than others.
Could not agree more. That kind of thing is part of the problem if you ask me. We have this culture where people are expected to genuflect to cops and military. I don’t think they deserve less, depending on how they do their job. I just don’t understand why it’s expected that military and cops should be treated better. Why? If anything, I think we should be thanking caregivers and teachers, etc. for their service…
I realize stories like this are meant to humanize the situation for a lot of normies as to just what Taco and Pee Wee German are doing to this country, but…it is a bit cloying to see that entitlement aspect.
Pee Wee German
Entitled terrorists.
Is it for being a military member, or for being a member of THAT military? Let’s narrow in on this generalization.
He doesn’t know how to tell his children who took their mother because I’m sure he voted for the guy who did it
Motherfucker said, “it’s almost inhumane.”
Wtf is his bar?
She’s not a real human being to him. Close, but not really.
If they shot the family dog, it’d be inhumane. This was just inconvenient.
That’s just standard procedure for any of the alphabet agencies.
Considering a military person is involved, he has done inhumane things, so he knows.
What an asinine thing to say. And more so that people are upvoting you.
how hard is it? “mommy is kidnapped by the fascists of which I am a member who volunteered to join.”
Yep, he knows how to tell, just doesn’t want to.

“She has to go answer some questions about her citizenship” if you don’t want the kids to hate either of you
Maybe the kids should hate him
If their father is this stupid, there is a good chance the kids will be too stupid to figure this out when they’re older.
It’s easy homeboy, repeat after me- “mommy went away to the place that the people I voted for sent her, with the money I gave them, and my job is to make sure she doesn’t come back. Now give me a hug and try not to be so brown.”
I read the article, and it does not say who he voted for anywhere. I understand what you’re assuming since he is in the military, but we can’t be sure that this man voted for Trump unless you have different information.
Edit: people are downvoting me, but everything I said is true. I’m not saying he didn’t vote for Trump, just that it doesn’t say it in this article.
It does not say what he voted, but every single one of his statements on the political implications of what is happening clearly shows this person either to be a Trumpist at worst or a political apatheist at best.
“I’m all for ‘get the criminals out of the country … But my wife was one of the good ones”. Classic right winger “it is not bad until it happens to me or one of my loved ones” material.

I read the article as well and I’ll give you one guess who he voted for.
If he didn’t vote for Trump, he would be accusing Trump of having his wife abducted, because it would be obvious. He’s trying to reconcile his own actions with the destruction of his family and he’s coming up short.
I was in the military a long time ago. Never voted Trump.
Also, thank you for reading the article before commenting.
If you were in the military then you know it’s full of maga chuds
It was certainly full of people that supported Bush.
It was mostly just kids that didn’t know anything. Most of them never even bothered with politics.
Do you mind if I ask you - I’ve always been curious how anyone could join the military and not bother with politics. Don’t they want to know what they might be sent to fight for? Is it just blind trust that the government will use the military wisely, or is it being young and dumb and possibly poor, or is it the appeal of the GI bill? Or - you’ve mentioned Bush and I assume you mean W, not HW, and if so you must be roughly my age. Did they mostly join in response to 9/11?
Either Bush, really. The kids I knew joined right before 9-11.
They are literally children. Some sign up at 16 even. It’s a mix of poor education and propaganda. “The military defends the rights of the people” etc. Since you can’t openly shit talk your superior officers or question their orders, it makes political propaganda more effective. I tried telling people we were going to murder brown people so corpos could get more money and they said, “ no, we are bringing freedom and stopping terrorists.”
A huge component was that it’s standard practice for Republican administrations to give better raises for service members.
It was honestly a nightmare of ignorant psychopaths. But tbf, there were quite a few people like me who just wanted to get away from shitty homes, get an education etc and joined before the large “wars.” We tried to teach, complained, and got out asap.
It’s not about being in the military, it’s the standard dumbfuck Trumper line of “I’m all for getting the criminals out of the country” except the good ones that her knows, with the assumption that there are a ton of evil brown criminals that needed to be deported that were being ignored. Same conservative bullshit as always. The only acceptable abortion is their own. The only acceptable immigrants are the ones they care about. That coupled with everything else about the way he tiptoes around and avoids blaming the person who obviously caused it makes it crystal clear that he supported the person who caused it, and likely still does. He’s confused and bewildered by the consequences of his own actions and cannot admit his part in them. If he voted against Trump, he’d be wording all of his statements very differently.
a long time ago
Things change

im all for getting the criminals out but my wife married an american! She was obe of the good ones!
After they married in 2024, Paola Clouatre sought a green card to legally live and work in the U.S. Adrian Clouatre said he is “not a very political person” but believes his wife deserved to live legally in the U.S.
“I’m all for ‘get the criminals out of the country,’ right?” he said. “But the people that are here working hard, especially the ones married to Americans — I mean, that’s always been a way to secure a green card.”
“Not a very political person” “I’m all for ‘get the criminals out of the country’”
So he’s a facist who doesn’t like the brand association
A Marine who spouts right wing talking points… definitely not a very political person.
No but see any position i hold is neutral.
I think this is a crucial observation to understanding this whole mess.
Not everyone lives in a “heliocentric world”, where they’re just a small part of a bigger system, everyone is just multiple shades of different, and average/normal is statistical fiction.
To a lot of folks, their vantage point is: “people like me are normal and it’s everyone else that is on the deep left or right.”
Meanwhile they’re ready to metaphorically murder Copernicus because it’s too painful to admit that these political epicycles they’ve mapped out are masking the truth.
They get real deep into the solipsism. It’s terrifying, because you can’t get them out. The person is unrecoverable. It’s like death, or a ghost.
Arrested by the government he works as a mercenary killer for. Maybe he should reexamine his life but i doubt it.
critical thinking? if he had any he wouldn’t have enlisted
Hey. Don’t say that about a united states marine.
Now apologize to mercenaries right now.
“Sorry kid, the country doesn’t consider mom American anymore and the people have decided she is ruining the country.”
Nazi scum.
Have these people heard of the Internet? What if the children someday stumble onto this article?
Even better: wait until they come across this Lemmy post and read all the comments.
